World Medical Supply, Inc was formed in 1986 by Dr. Akira Momose, M.D. who is the Director or the Institute of Clinical Ophthalmology in Gunma, Japan. He is (retired now) a world renown clinical ophthalmologist who set about inventing a truly powder free surgical glove made from pure latex, that could be used in all types of surgical operating room settings. He invented the chlorine formula now used by most powder free glove manufacturers world wide and developed PRISTINE powder free surgical gloves. PRISTINE gloves were the first truly powder free glove distributed in the USA.
PRISTINE powder free surgical gloves were manufactured by FUJI latex in Thailand for many years until they stopped manufacturing gloves altogether in 1998. During that time the PRISTINE powder free surgical glove was the one glove that the newly emerging Fertility and IVF field found that was not toxic to the human embryo and became the leading glove used in that field.
Manufacturing was shifted to Medigloves in Thailand when the Fuji manufacturing facility was closed. PRISTINE powder free surgical gloves were manufactured by Medigloves in Thailand for the past seven years until tragedy struck the manufacturing plant this past February in the form of a fire. The plant completely burned to the ground, killing one worker and injuring seven others. Plans are under way to rebuild.
Immediately following the destruction of the plant in Thailand, World Medical Supply set about finding another facility that could manufacture a powder free surgical glove that could continue to serve the Fertility and IVF needs.
Using our own proprietary formulas for washing, we now have the new PRISTINE 2 powder free surgical glove available in sizes 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5 and 9.
